Bio I earned my PhD at Karolinska Instituet and I am proud alumnus of the Linnarsson Lab. My original training is in Biotechnology (BSc @UNIPA) and Biomedicine (MSc @KI) but nowadays I will probably turn around if somebody is calling out for a Molecular Biologist, Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician.
My research focuses on understanding brain development. I am particularly interested in describing the sequence of states that embryonic stem cells go through during their differentiation towards mature neurons.

Congratulations to Antonio Herrera Camacho on becoming a Principal Investigator at the University of Granada! Supported by a Ramón y Cajal fellowship, Toni is starting his own independent research group. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with him.
Since joining the La Manno Lab in 2021, Toni has brought his experience in developmental biology to our efforts to understand how the brain forms. His work combined embryo culture, spatial transcriptomics, and single-cell analysis, with a particular interest in how folate deficiency affects brain development.
