Congratulations, PI Toni! A new lab in Granada

Congratulations to Antonio Herrera Camacho on becoming a Principal Investigator at the University of Granada! Supported by a Ramón y Cajal fellowship, Toni is starting his own independent research group. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with him.

Since joining the La Manno Lab in 2021, Toni has brought his experience in developmental biology to our efforts to understand how the brain forms. His work combined embryo culture, spatial transcriptomics, and single-cell analysis, with a particular interest in how folate deficiency affects brain development. Alongside his research, he helped students learn experimental approaches and develop their own projects.

His contributions also span several of the lab’s collaborative publications, including uMAIA, Spotiflow, and VeloCycle, all published in Nature Methods.

Seeing a colleague take the step to leading an independent lab is a special moment for our team. We look forward to the questions Toni and his new group will explore, and to continuing our scientific collaborations.

Thank you, Toni, for five years of science, mentorship, and friendship. We will miss having you in the lab, but there is much to celebrate. All the best for your new lab in Granada, PI Toni!
